SPECIAL MEETING – ENGAGE & NURTURE
7th Wednesday 11.15 am – 12.15 pm
ZOOM meeting: Zoom ID will be posted on whatsapp and emailed one day prior to the meeting.
STORY OF INDIAN CRAFT- PANDEMIC TIMES
Craft people, equally affected like daily wagers, remain invisible and therefore, ignored by Government and media, both.
It’s a curious time. Not just fear of possible mortal disease, but a lockdown of all social and economic activities. For craft people, dependant on daily production and sales, life has come to a halt- there are no melas, no sales, no raw material and therefore no money to feed their families.
Because of such times, we have taken an initiative under our motto ‘Engage & Nurture’, to join hands with Paramparik - an organization dedicated to Arts & Crafts of India since last 25 years. Their aim is to preserve and promote traditional art and crafts.
This morning we will be having 2 Karigars presenting their crafts:
-
Palm Leaves etching by , from Orissa
-
Pattachitra painting by , from W. Bengal
Time permitting, we will also screen a video on weaving, by Shri Vankar Vishramji, from Kutch.
Look forward to having members in large numbers to support this initiative.
