INNOVATIVE ART WORKSHOP

Piramal Museum of Art showcases an educative exhibit for viewers and collectors to understand the methods used by forgers and the underlying difficulty in authentication of original works of art. This comes at a pressing time as the dot-com boom has provided boundless images generating a lucrative industry for art forgeries and fakes.

The workshop will begin with a brief 20 minute walk-through of the exhibition where certain case studies of authenticity will be presented from Tanjore and Pichvai traditions to works of Hussain and Jamini Roy.

The second half of the workshop will remind one of their creative childhood days. Crayons, sketch pens, paints, etc will be provided and one will be encouraged to bring out their hidden talent and use appropriate techniques to make art. You will be given 20 minutes to put this together, after which each person will be given 45 seconds to explain what they appropriated and why, following this we will have a brief critique of the works made.
