CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS - CONTEMPORARY HISTORICAL ISLAM

A discussion of Islamic history and culture and what relevance it

has to the contemporary image oflslam in the context ofarguments regarding the clash of civilizations.

What position do we take in India regarding our Islamic legacy? Is there a relationship between the way we view this legacy and the way we treat our largest minority, the Indian Muslims?

Javed Gaya is a lawyer and writer. He has been published in numerous publications from the Times of India, Business India, DNA (where he had a column), Marg Magazine as well as foreign publications and even on line in the wire where he has written book reviews.

He studied at Oxford University, and Lincoln's Inn in London. He has had an abiding interest in history, and is an avid reader of history and biography. He has been active on the cultural and intellectual scene in Mumbai, and in 2011 organized a Thinkfest called "Names and Numbers".
