THE INDUS DEBATE
In 2006, when Al Gore's documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth” was released, it generated considerable academic interest and won him the Nobel in 2007, but little active response from governments. Then, as flash floods, unseasonal rains, bitterly cold winters, searing summers & drought set in, the world awoke to the dangers of climate change. Concerned citizens and activists began to scrutinise developmental projects and warn governments of their potential impact. Developing nations began to protest, stating that these were required to alleviate desperate poverty.
Today, six Indus speakers debate this serious global conundrum. “Environmental Activism is hampering progress in developing Nations.” Usha Jayaram will be moderating the Indus Debate 2020.
Please do listen to our speakers and vote on this issue which is extremely relevant today both for Mumbai and India as a whole.
