GIFT AND ITS OFFERINGS

Ladies we have lined up an interesting coffee morning over artwork and installations curated by Dr Arshiya Lokhandwala. She will conduct a walk-through of the works of 12 artists - Anita Dube, Anju Dodiya, Atul Dodiya, Dayanita Singh, Justin Ponmany, Jitish Kallat, Mithu Sen, Nikhil Chopra, Prajakta Potnis, Raqs Media Collective, Shaurya Kumar and Shilpa Gupta. The showcase is an invitation to the artists to unpack ideas of the gift.

The gift is normally understood as a simple exchange between two individuals and one is not aware of the larger contractual obligations, which are already in place once they receive or accept the gift. The exhibition aspires to contemplate whether it is possible for us to consider the gift devoid of reciprocity, return, exchange, or debt.
