The Sixth String of Vilayat Khan
This morning we have Namita Devidayal who will read extracts from her new book ‘The Sixth String of Vilayat Khan’ interspersed with music by the late maestro. She will discuss the man and the musician and how he traversed between being mad and divine.
This is Namita’s third book. Her first two are ‘The Music Room’ and ‘Aftertaste’. Namita is a senior journalist with ‘The Times of India’ and a graduate of Princeton University.
The book has received much acclaim since its publication. According to Gopalkrishna Gandhi, grandson of the Mahatma and the former governor of Bengal, “the book is just like the maestro
— flamboyant and confident”
The book for discussion for March is “EDUCATED” by Tara Westover.
