INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION —THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE(IB) —PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAMME PYP)

This presentation will introduce the PYP as a systemic and all-encompassing curriculum We will look at the implications of the learner profile as an expression of the philosophy of the IB and its contribution to the development of international-mindedness.

It will be an interactive session with an overview of the written, taught and assessed curriculum as it pertains to concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes and actionfive essential elements of the PYP that are integral to classroom practice.

Our speaker for today is the very enthusiastic, outgoing, and vivacious Khushnuma Ferzandi. Khushnuma has been an educator at The American School of Bombay for 23 years. She plays an active role in the IB Asia Pacific Region, as part of the IB Educators Network, a PYP Workshop Leader, an IB Consultant and School Visitor.

Through her IB knowledge and skills as a PYP leader, one thing is very clear. Khushnuma takes into account all aspects of teaching and learning. Like Aristotle said, she believes, ”Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
