MANU PAREKH – “CITY of MAGICAL LIGHT”
Today we have the privilege of meeting internationally acclaimed artist Manu Parekh who has made a considerable contribution to Indian Modern Art. Parekh’s paintings provoke viewers to take notice of the world around them through vivid colours, strong lines and emotions expressed. His works exude a volatile energy that can barely be contained within the confines of his canvas.
In Parekh’s current exhibition, “City of Magical Light”, he continues on his enchanted journey to Benaras, mapping the city’s quality of light during its myriad moods of change. Parekh brings together two of his oeuvres from the various series he has devoted to Banaras - his landscapes that capture the potency of faith, and the interiority of the temples where oblations take the form of worship, floral offerings kindling the holy flame, thus offering a holistic view of the eternal city of divine light.
